the events historical, and metaphysical, of coochin creek, in the sunshine coast hinterland

Coochin Creek seems a place where dark events could not happen, but this is far from the truth. One night long ago Nicholas Hazelburn, the local school teaher, drank one too many and, finding himself without transport after the last coach had left the pub, took what turned out to be an eternally-long shortcut through the swamps. many years later King Billy and Queen Maude found a skeleton in the dank woods, showing the sings of having once been tightly wedged between the split trunk of a treacherous swamp gum. The school lost a teacher, but the forest gained a permanent resident. most animals, except for the troll, tend to move round a lot, so that counts for something.
